Knit & Purl Hand Mitts | $5.99
Show some love for your favorite craft with these statement mitts! Warm and stylish, every knitter needs a pair! Keep your hands cozy anytime, but especially while knitting in public!

These mitts are worked in two steps. First, knit the palm and gusset flat (sideways), then seam up the ends using Kitchener Stitch. (The seam goes down the center of the palm.) Second, pick up sts for the ribbed cuff and work in the round. Finish off the thumbs by picking up sts and immediately binding off with an I-cord BO. (For a simple mitt, work these plain without the “knit” and “purl” wording. Instructions are in pattern.)

This pattern includes both charted and written instructions for the cabled cursive lettering. The lettering goes pretty fast, but it will keep you on your toes.

Techniques used: Knit, purl, provisional CO, German Short Rows (instructions in pattern), cabling, Kitchener St, picking up sts, working in the round, I-cord BO.

Sizes:
Women’s S (M, L) to fit hand circumference of: 6”-6.5” (7”-7.5”, 8”-8.5”). (Measure at widest point of palm above thumb.) Mitt Length: 6” (6.5”, 7”)

Yarn:
Knit Picks Capretta (Fingering): 160 (175, 185) yds
(For best results, use a yarn with good stitch definition.)

Needles:
US 1 (2.50 mm) straight needles; US 1 (2.50mm) DPNs (4)
(Note: Sharp tipped needles work best.)

Notions:
Scrap yarn; crochet hook (provisional CO); stitch markers; tapestry needle; cable needle
